Sammy—also known as Samshine—was such a loving, funny soul. A little black cat with a truly enormous personality. I know so many of you connected with him, both online and in person, and he brought so much joy into all of our lives.

Sammy crossed the rainbow bridge suddenly at midnight on October 19, 2020, during his “Purrday month,” just after turning 10. Losing him was devastating in a way words can’t quite hold. I miss my little man every single day—and I know many of you do too.

​

That year, I created a few special toys as a fundraiser in his honor, and together we raised an incredible $1,270. It was such a beautiful way to turn grief into something meaningful and full of love. I will always be grateful for that support.

​

Mischa and I now continue to celebrate Sammy through The Samshine Project, donating a portion of sales throughout the year in his memory.

Our beneficiary is Mission Meow—a collective of compassionate, cat-loving businesses and humans working together to support small feline-focused nonprofits and create real change for cats in need.
